Hospitalization and Intensive Care

We provide hospitalization and intensive care services for patients who need round-the-clock monitoring as they recover from surgery, injury, or illness. We can care for your pet until they improve enough to go home or, if you prefer, we will transfer stable pets back to your primary veterinarian when they open for normal business hours. If we transfer your pet’s care, we’ll provide a detailed case summary to ensure a smooth transition.

Medications

Overnight hospitalization can benefit pets recovering from surgery, or whose condition needs frequent monitoring that your primary veterinarian cannot provide. Cedarwood Veterinary & Animal Emergency Hospital is staffed 24/7, and our veterinarians and registered veterinary technicians can monitor vital signs, administer fluids and medications, and evaluate pain levels as needed throughout the night. If your pet’s condition deteriorates, we can intervene right away to re-stabilize your pet.

If your pet needs ongoing fluids or medications, we may recommend they stay in our hospital until they are completely recovered. We can provide ongoing care for your pet, including weekends and holidays, as long as needed.

Hospitalization

At-Home Care

Most hospitalized pets need continued at-home care after hospital discharge, and we will provide detailed, written instructions and medication demonstrations to help you provide your pet the best home care. For your convenience, we can dispense common medications, including analgesics, anti-inflammatories, and antibiotics, from our in-house or online pharmacy. In most cases, your primary veterinarian can provide your pet with follow-up care according to our instructions.
